There’s no doubt that beautiful, fashionable, romantic Paris, is one of the most photogenic cities in the entire world. This elegance and charm lends to making it a hotspot for those looking to take the perfect Instagram. To make your life easier I have put together this list of the most instagrammable places in Paris.

I completely fell in love with capturing the city of light over the two weeks I was fortunate enough to have exploring, this summer.  I hope this captivation comes across in my photography.  And inspires your own.

The Eiffel Tower

Trocadero Steps

The Eiffel Tower must top this list of the most Instagrammable places in Paris! But where to get the shot from?

There are many great angles when it comes to photographing the Iron Lady, my favourite is the view from the Trocadero steps.

Reach this point by catching the metro to Trocadero station, which is just metres away from the viewing platform.

It’s an ideal place to start your day at sunrise. Even if you just sit back and enjoy the view of this, the most famous of the Paris Instagram spots.

Avenue Rapp

The wide and gorgeous Avenue Rapp is an excellent place for photography in Paris.  However, there is one reason in particular it is so notable.  As you walk along the avenue look down the side streets for wonderful views of the Eiffel tower.

The street pictured in the photo below is Rue du General Camou. Square Rapp is another point along this avenue that offers the perfect Instagram opportunity.

Rue Saint- Dominique

There are multiple points along this street that are ideal for capturing Insta worthy photos of the Eiffel tower.

I would suggest standing on the pavement in front of Brasserie Au Canon des Invalides or Cafe Le Recrutement for a street view photo with Paris’ most iconic landmark, beautifully situated in the background.

Saint Germain des Pres

Maison Sauvage

Maison Sauvage is a restaurant in Paris located in Saint Germain-des-Prés. It is definitely one of the most Instagrammable cafes in the city due to its flower facade, that changes every couple of months.  When I visited in July the front of the restaurant was covered in purple wisteria!

For the best photo capture the restaurant and quaint bookstore situated just in front for a unique instagram, yet one that is classically Parisian.

Cafe De Flore

Another cafe in Saint-Germain that is iconically Parisian and perfect for a beautifully curated Instagram feed.

However, before this cafe was exposed on social media, Cafe de Flore was the favorite hangout of many famous writers and philosophers. So, make sure you order an appetizer and aperitif and enjoy on the street view terrace, after taking your photos.

Notre Dame

The architecture and history behind the Notre Dame Cathedral both contribute in making it one of the most Instagrammable places in Paris.

In April 2019 a fire devastated much of the Cathedral. What was once considered one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture was left almost half destroyed!  Fortunately, it is currently undergoing a complete repair and there are a few angles that won’t capture any of the ongoing restoration.  One of the best being from Place du Petit Pont, just in front of the Notre Dame metro station. So you can still take a step back into your childhood and marvel at the home of Quasimodo.

Shakespeare and Company

Perhaps the most famous independent bookstore in the world, Shakespeare and Company feels like a literary utopia in the heart of Paris.  The shop faces the Seine, with a stunning view of Notre Dame, especially from the second floor! However, I have not included Shakespeare and Company as one of the most Instagrammable places in Paris for the view, but for the insanely photogenic exterior.

Once you have appreciated the charming photo opportunity, put your camera away and get lost in the literature from generations of writers that have found a temporary home in Paris.

Around the city

The Bouquinistes

The beautiful book, paintings and souvenir sellers set up along the banks of the Seine, especially near Il de la Cite, are easily among the most Instagrammable places in Paris.  They offer a unique, entirely Parisian backdrop for your photos.

However, do be cautious and keep an eye out for “no photo” signs, as not all the sellers like their stands to be photographed.

Metro Signs

Paris’ metro signs are incredibly iconic, and there’s no shortage of opportunities around the city to photograph them.  I love the composition of this shot that captures both the metro sign and the gorgeous streets of Bastille.

Rooftops/balconies of a Parisian apartment

For my two weeks in Paris, I was fortunate enough to be staying in an Air BnB with the most spectacular balcony views.  I think these photos are both so Instagram worthy and I would highly suggest hunting out accommodation that offers the same!

Monmartre

Sacre-Coeur

Sacre-Coeur is actually the second highest point in the city (after The Eiffel tower).  It stands at the top of Montmartre Hill giving a birds eye view over the whole of Paris.  I would even go as far as arguing that the view from this famous Roman Church is the best throughout the entire city.

However, expect many steps to reach the top!

Once you have arrived and pictured the church to your hearts content, you can take a tour with a local guide inside the church and the Montmartre area.

The Sacre-Coeur itself is like no other religious building I’ve ever seen and is without a doubt one of, if not the most Instagrammable place in Paris, due to its architecture, view and situation in beautiful Montmartre.

Galerie La Vigne

Another accidental find, nestled in my favourite Parisian neighbourhood; Montmartre.  This art gallery that spills out onto the street is just perfect for curating a beautiful Instagram feed.

Le Consulat

Surrounded on either side by winding cobblestone streets and decorated in vibrant red and white; Le Consulat deserves a prime spot on any list of the most instagrammable places in Paris. In fact, thanks to Instagram, this cafe is possibly the most famous in Paris.

It can be found deep in the streets of Montmartre.  Be sure to pop in and grab yourself a coffee to keep you going on your Paris Instagram spots tour and get a candid photo on the way out!

La Maison Rose

This pretty little pink corner restaurant will be sure to compliment anyone’s feed. I particularly love the contrast of pastels with the ivy that grows in spring and summer!

If you walk a little bit further down, Rue de l’Abreuvoir features a street view that is quintessential French, so cute and quaint!

Street Views

Paris has so many iconic landmarks that my original portfolio was to solely be made up of the touristic highlights.  I spent the majority of my first week seeking these out and ticking them off my carefully selected list.

However, after exploring the city for a second week, I discovered that many of Paris’ most beautiful locations were the ones slightly off the beaten track.  In the end, most of my favourite photos from the trip, and the ones that made it to my Instagram feed, were simple street views, that were not pre planned or even perhaps photographed before!

Rue De La Folie Mericourt

My personal number 1! I love the composition of the cafe terrace and the church in the background, and think this photo makes the perfect Instagram.  I took this photo around 11am and the light flickered perfectly through the trees.

Rue De Teheran

This street view is perfectly Parisian and another accidental favourite.  I was exploring the city, late morning and walked through the 8th Arrondissement, a particularly photogenic, yet quiet neighbourhood.  Making it a lovely little spot to get a candid photo for Instagram.

Rue Du Chevalie De La Barre

This pretty street in Montmartre is full of incredible architecture, souvenir shops and small restaurants.  It dead ends into Sacre Coeur, which makes it incredibly photogenic!

This cobblestone street is definitely one of the top Instagrammable places in Paris.

Champs-Elysees (Arc de Triomphe)

There are many Instagrammable places along Champs-Elysees that you don’t want to miss! With the most famous being the Arc de Triomphe at the end.

The Arc de Triomphe is one of the most famous Paris Instagram spots, both for historical and photography reasons.  It has the names of all French victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces.

With a ticket you can reach the rooftop, however personally, I think the best photo is a street view.

If you get there early enough, the roundabout will have less traffic and tourists, making it possible to get a quick shot with an empty background!

So that concludes THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO PARIS’S MOST INSTAGRAMMABLE PLACES!

Let me know in the comments if there are any spots that you would add to this list, so that I can capture them next time I’m in the City of Love!
